01Student - What is Holiness?

Personal Holiness in Times of Temptation
Holiness:  How to Get There From Here

·    If you were asked, pick three words that best describe you, what would they be?

·    We mistaken holiness with status like a minister, preacher, _______________ monk, angel or a martyr

Being holy is becoming just like ___________.

God has a program of character development for each one of us. He wants others to look at our lives and say, “He walks with God, for he lives like Christ.”  Erwin W. Lutzer

I.          Biblical definition of holiness
1 Pet.  1:15-16
“But as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your __________________ , because it is written, ‘Be holy, for I am holy.’”

1. Holiness (Heb and Greek) – the word “holy” literally means to ___________________
2. Holiness requires ______________ the secular _______ the sacred
3. All Christians are commanded to be holy in all your _________________________
How little people know who think that holiness is dull.  When one meets the real thing,…it is irresistible.
C.S. Lewis Letters to an American Lady
Three different ways to think of holiness:
·    God’s view of holiness
·    Personal view of holiness
·    My behavior in expression of holiness

II.      Three stages of holiness
1 Cor. 1:2,  “To the church of God which is at Corinth, to those who aresanctifiedin Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all who in every place call on the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours.”   Are those people really saints?  Because in the book they are immoral and do not live like saints.
All Christians have been separated in
God’s Mind and are holy.

A.The first stage:  _______________________

The first stage of personal holiness is your salvation through trust in Christ’s ________________

You are not a saint for what people tell you, you are a saint because of what God tells you.

B.The second stage:  _______________________

Romans 12:1, “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.

Luke 2:
·    The “presentation of Jesus” was in his parent’s _____________________

All Christians can become fully committed to _________________.

Presentation of your life to God through gratitude for His love and ________________

C.  The third stage:  _________________________
2 Timothy 2:19b, 21-22, Let everyone who names the name of Christ depart form iniquity….if anyone cleanses himself…he will be a vessel for honor, ___________________ and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work.   Flee also youthful lusts, but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

1.   Practical holiness is a lifelong process of cleansing yourself from sin and pursuing ______________________.

2.   Seek personal holiness “with those who call on the name of the Lord out of a pure _____________.  You do this with others, not only by yourself.

3.   Your transformation into the image of Christ through complete ______________________

The most important thought I ever had was that of my individual responsibility to God.    Daniel Webster

III.  Process of Holiness

2 Cor. 7:1,  Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and sprit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

When you believe, it happens one time
When you present, it happens there one time
From that point on, you got to keep working on holiness.

Stage 1
Stage 2

Exodus 36 - Thursday Bible Studies

EXODUS 36:1-38 Presenter:  Jaydee Agcaoili Nov. 13, 2025 Dela Cruz Residence, Thursday Bible Study  V1-  God emphasized obedience in building the Tabernacle. Reminding his people to follow his instructions exactly!   V2-  Moses called Bezalel, Oholiab and other skilled craftsmen in building the Tabernacle;  AND “who was willing to come and do the work”   This verse is an eye opener for me. It makes me think na may mga taong gifted but not willing, or not gifted pero willing, OR not gifted and not willing to learn and serve.   I am guilty of this. I know God gifted me in certain areas, but I tend to hold back. I always have excuses. Most of the time I’m too specific in what needs to be done like “i’m not good in this, i’m not in that. or I don’t have what you need” Well, God didn’t say you need to be good in this or that.   He wants a willing heart.   Imagine, if everyone does their part, wala ng voluntold,   an...

January 4 - Bible Study - Place of Worship

Text:  Ezra 3 Focus:  God brought back the children of Israel to Jerusalem after many years of bondage.  The first thing the people did was to reestablish worship and build a place of worship.   After reading Ezra 3, determine what the people did to make their worship of God possible?   Read Ezra 3.   Some key points to remember:  The leaders were key to the revival of worship (3:1-6).  Can you describe what the leaders did to begin worship?  Participants play a key role in the establishment of worship (3:7-10).   Apart from the leaders, everyone took part and contributed.   Can you identify who and what contributed?   People worshipped  God (3:11-13).   The reason for a place is so people can worship.  What did everyone do to express their worship?   Can you share in a statement what are some key lessons we need to learn about how worship is done?  Is worship imp...

Overcoming Temptation

What to do in overcoming temptation A. LOVE YOUR LORD! 1. Mark 12:30 2. John 14:21 a. Love: agapao (ag-ap-ah'-o); to love (in a social or moral sense, sacrificial). b.                   Love is not a feeling. It is an action verb. We demonstrate our love for God through our obedience to Him. Just as He demonstrated His love for us through His obedient sacrifice on the cross. B. RECOGNIZE TEMPTATION AND PREPARE FOR IT! 1.                   "Temptation isn't a sin; it is a call to battle. Opportunity knocks once, but temptation leans on the doorbell" 2. I Corinthians 10:12-13 a. Remember: God is always there for you when you are tempted ... not passively watching but actively intervening. 3.               ...
