Exodus 36 - Thursday Bible Studies

EXODUS 36:1-38
Presenter:  Jaydee Agcaoili
Nov. 13, 2025
Dela Cruz Residence, Thursday Bible Study

V1- God emphasized obedience in building the Tabernacle. Reminding his people to follow his instructions exactly!

V2- Moses called Bezalel, Oholiab and other skilled craftsmen in building the Tabernacle; AND “who was willing to come and do the work”

This verse is an eye opener for me. It makes me think na may mga taong gifted but not willing, or not gifted pero willing, OR not gifted and not willing to learn and serve.

I am guilty of this. I know God gifted me in certain areas, but I tend to hold back. I always have excuses. Most of the time I’m too specific in what needs to be done like “i’m not good in this, i’m not in that. or I don’t have what you need”

Well, God didn’t say you need to be good in this or that.  He wants a willing heart.  Imagine, if everyone does their part, wala ng voluntold,  and we’ll have everything we need.

So, this verse is a good reminder to examine ourselves, Am I willing to do the work? Am I willing to learn and serve? WE HAVE TO BE OBEDIENT IN GOD’S CALL TO SERVE HIM.

If you still don’t know your calling or how you can serve God, pray about it. God didn’t call us para lang maging spectator.  Ayaw mo namang maging taga palakpak lang, tapos ang layo pa. :))

V3-V4 - After hearing Moses, the people gave generously and eagerly every morning, hanggang yun mga mang gagawa sinabihan na si Moses na “they have more than enough  for doing the work the Lord commanded to be done.”

When people give generously, this is a reflection of gratitude. Knowing everything they have comes from God, who freed them from slavery. Nagbigay sila not because obligado sila, but from thankful hearts.

Tayo ba? Are we giving generously of our time, talent, treasure? Knowing na everything we have is from God. This is something to think about, or maybe mahaba habang pakikipag usap kay Lord tonight :)

Pano natin nasabing hindi sila obligado? kasi sabi sa V3  people continued to bring freewill offerings...

V5-V7 - Now, that they have more than enough, sinabihan sila ni Moses to stop bringing more. And again, this shows people’s grateful hearts (by giving generously), and Moses’ integrity/honesty in leadership (by ensuring that offerings are used responsibly and for God’s purpose.

V8-V13 - The first item skilled workers made was the  2 sets of five fine linen curtains total of 10 (v8)  and are joined together using golden clasps (v13)

Connected curtains symbolized the unity and Purity of the body of Christ.

HOW DID IT SYMBOLIZED UNITY? Joining together represents spiritual unityand like we Christians are connected and held by God. The golden clasps shows that it is God Himself who holds his people together.

How did it symbolize Purity of the Body of Christ?

Linen - it’s a material known for its brightness, cleanliness, and quality. In scripture, linen represents righteousness and Holiness  (Rev. 19:8)

Linen shows pure and sinless nature of Christ, who covers his people with his righteousness.

And this is a reminder for us that when we serve and worship God, we must have a clean heart & pure motive. HIndi yung napilitan or feeling obligado ka kaya nagsisimba ka sa Sunday, or doing your ministry.

 BLUE - Heaven and truth

PURPLE - Royalty

SCARLET - Sacrifice and atonement (reconciliation),  foreshadowing the blood of Christ

Back then, purple dye was extremely rare and expensive.  It was reserved for Kings and people of great status,  So, when God instructed that purple fabric be used in Tabernacle, it shows his sovereignty and Royal nature.

V14-V19 OUTER COVERINGS OF TABERNACLE Craftsmen continued building the outer coverings and these coverings were layered and made from different materials, like goat hair, ram skins dyed red, and durable leather.

 Goat hair

        symbolizes sin & guilt

Day of atonement of the sins of Israelites, the high priest placed Israelite’s sins on a goat and sent it into wilderness. (lev. 16:20-22)

Spiritually, this pointed forward to Jesus, the true “sin bearer”, who took the sins of the world.

Ram’s skins dyed red

        Sacrifice & atonement

Rams were often used in burnt offerings.

        Red dyed represents Jesus’ blood,

pointing to his sacrificial death that reconciliates for our sin.

This is a reminder that access to God requires shed blood, which fulfilled by Jesus, the lamb of God.

Durable leather (outmost layer)

        Tough and weather resistant

It protects the sacred interior from damage

And this represents God’s preserving grace.

He guards and sustains his people during trials & hardships.

V20-V38 - God revealed how the Jews faithfully built the wood and metal support system and the veil door for the tabernacle.

And this verses pointed to the support that God gives to all who support his kingdom. God has provided everything we need to be saved and to serve.

The question is...  Are we serving him? How eager are you to serve him?

PRAYER:  Heavenly Father,  You are so gracious in how You have given us talents and skills, that You have specifically and purposefully given to each one of us, which we can use for Your kingdom and glory.

God, I pray that you stir up our hearts, Please show us tonight how we can serve with what you have gifted us. Thank you that we are all unique, that when we work together we have more than enough. Use us tonight, this week, to serve you, and to serve others. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

January 4 - Bible Study - Place of Worship

Text:  Ezra 3 Focus:  God brought back the children of Israel to Jerusalem after many years of bondage.  The first thing the people did was to reestablish worship and build a place of worship.   After reading Ezra 3, determine what the people did to make their worship of God possible?   Read Ezra 3.   Some key points to remember:  The leaders were key to the revival of worship (3:1-6).  Can you describe what the leaders did to begin worship?  Participants play a key role in the establishment of worship (3:7-10).   Apart from the leaders, everyone took part and contributed.   Can you identify who and what contributed?   People worshipped  God (3:11-13).   The reason for a place is so people can worship.  What did everyone do to express their worship?   Can you share in a statement what are some key lessons we need to learn about how worship is done?  Is worship imp...

Overcoming Temptation

What to do in overcoming temptation A. LOVE YOUR LORD! 1. Mark 12:30 2. John 14:21 a. Love: agapao (ag-ap-ah'-o); to love (in a social or moral sense, sacrificial). b.                   Love is not a feeling. It is an action verb. We demonstrate our love for God through our obedience to Him. Just as He demonstrated His love for us through His obedient sacrifice on the cross. B. RECOGNIZE TEMPTATION AND PREPARE FOR IT! 1.                   "Temptation isn't a sin; it is a call to battle. Opportunity knocks once, but temptation leans on the doorbell" 2. I Corinthians 10:12-13 a. Remember: God is always there for you when you are tempted ... not passively watching but actively intervening. 3.               ...
